Playing a Film with Player Controls

Once a film is downloaded, you play it from its details screen in Convoy Cinema. Playback needs a valid KDM key to decrypt the film; the film then plays on the external cinema display, and an on-screen Player Controls panel lets you drive it — play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, stop, and seek.

Before you start

• The film must be downloaded — see Downloading a Film.
• You need a valid KDM key for the film. Convoy Cinema checks key status automatically and shows it in the Key Information panel. You can download issued keys from the KDM Keys screen.
• The device must be paired to the correct screen — see Pairing a Device to a Screen.

How to start playback

1. On the film details screen, click Play.
2. If a valid stored key exists, the film is prepared and the Player Controls panel appears.
3. If no valid key is found, the "Select Key File" window opens:

• Click to choose the film's key file from disk.
• Click Play Film to load the key and prepare the film. (If the key is rejected you'll see a "Playback Error" / "Key Required" message — pick the correct key file and try again.)

4. When the film is prepared, use the Player Controls to run it. The panel notes "Movie is playing on external display".


Player Controls

| Control | Action |
|---------|--------|
| Seek bar | Drag to jump to any position (shown when the film's runtime is known). |
| Rewind | Steps the playhead back. |
| Play | Resumes / starts playback. |
| Pause | Pauses playback. |
| Stop (square) | Stops and resets to the beginning. |
| Fast Forward | Steps the playhead forward. |

 The current time tracks live from the player; when playback ends, the controls panel closes automatically.

Common errors

| Message | Cause | Fix |
|---------|-------|-----|
| "Key Required" / "Please select a key file to play this movie" | No valid stored key. | Choose the correct KDM key file in the Select Key File window. |
| "Playback Error" | The key was rejected or the media couldn't be decrypted. | Verify you selected the right key for this film; check key validity. |
| Play button disabled | The film is already prepared/playing. | Use the on-screen Player Controls. |
